Journal Update:

Happy New Year Everyone! I can't believe 2017 has already gone, but I'm super excited for the up coming year.

Last night was super cold here >.< It got down to about 14 degrees, and I had to double up blankets for the horses. Which speaking of, my Dad and I have to figure out how to fix Trip's stall gate, because he is some how managing to escape out of his stall some nights...

This past Thursday I brought home a new betta...He is currently sitting in my spare 3G tank. I can't wait to show him to you guys, because he is absolutely gorgeous!
Also I know I mentioned that I was going to go to Repticon later this month, however that has changed (if everything goes right), and I will actually be heading out of state that weekend. That means I won't be getting a new reptile, yet. I'm pretty sure I've made my decision also on my new reptile choice too.

For my New Year's resolution, I would like to get some of my fish/reptile projects completed. This is the current list of what I would like to get done (some changes may occur):
- I'll be getting a snake rack instead of individual PVC cages for the snakes. It'll be better this way because I'll only have to run one heating element instead of three different ones.
- Upgrading Sophie to an Exo Terra is next. I'm hoping to get a 24X18X24 for her.
- After some rearranging, my random betta boys (Rajah, Buddy, and the two new kids) will be going into a split 20L.

This is about how far I've gotten with my list. Somewhere in there will be getting a new addition as well. I can't wait to share all my projects with you guys this year, and to be showing off some new animals. In the meantime enjoy Atticus in our Christmas tree.

Atticus is such a pretty boy!! Glad horses are staying warm. Look forward to seeing your new boys! Interested in hearing more about the snake rack. I was talking to my mouse guy last night and he was showing me a thermostat that does his whole rack. That sounded so much better than individual ones. I heard there is a big Repticon in Atlanta this coming weekend. I bet that would be such a cool show! I have plans to go to one in Feb back in Nashville. Maybe by then I will save up some funds to put towards some new equipment and or a new friend :)

Actually Atticus is a girl The horses are trying to stay warm. I've been doing warm mash for them because it is hard to keep their water unfrozen with the cold temperatures. Most rack systems run off of one thermostat. That is why I decided to go with that instead of running three different heating elements like I am now. I'll probably just use one of the thermostats that I currently have before buying a big kids version That would be cool! I'll be looking forward to that update! Hopefully I'll have some of my projects completed by then to get the new kid I'm thinking of bringing home (end of February).

Yup! The best way to tell with frillies is to look at the the base of their vent. Females have one lump instead of two.

Same here! I've been having to beat the ice on the goldies tubs so they can get some oxygen exchange. News is saying we might get some snow here tonight too >.<

Journal Update:

I hope everyone is doing fantastic!
I'm enjoying the last day or two of my mini-vacation. Over the weekend I went to my (Mom's side) family reunion in SC. Unfortunately my Mom, Grandpa, and I were the only ones who could make it. It wasn't bad with the three of us however, because my Mom and I are huge into researching our family history, and with my Grandpa we were able to find and learn some more things about our family.

I cleaned fish tanks before I left, but I'm going to do water changes early this week, because of my work schedule. I noticed Buddy came down with cloudy eye before I left. I did a bigger water change on his and Rajah's tank, and it seems to be clearing up now. All the other tanks are doing good. I redid Goober III's tank with new decor, because his other stuff was getting nasty, and the Christmas decorations were starting to bubble >.<

I ordered the snake rack for the snakes the other day. Now just waiting for that to come in; which will be awhile because they make them as they are ordered. I noticed when I feed Sampson the other week that I need to upgrade his rats from small to medium now.

The horses and donkey were super cold here last week. We even got about 2" of snow. They are predicting about the same amount this week too >.< It was so cold I had to haul water in buckets via the wheel barrow.
Also speaking of cold weather, I lost all 5 of my common type goldfish. Their pond completely froze up. The other small pond didn't, and those guys are fine. I'm thinking that before next winter I'll have to see about getting some de-icers for them.

*I've got some random pictures of Kimchi that I took before I left, and Goober III's new setup.

Great pictures. Sorry about goldfish. My bil does the family history research. It is pretty interesting. How do you like your pet store job? Any interesting stories? I would love to hear more about your snake rack. I have been looking into them myself and doing research on another snake that may show up soon. Shh dont tell my family yet haha. Trying to break them in easy 😉

Our family history is very interesting!

It's ok. There are somethings that we do that I don't agree with. I will say that whenever someone meets pet store employees, please be nice to them. A lot of stuff isn't exactly their fault. Corporate, and managers have a lot of say in how things are suppose to run, and employees just do what they are told.
The only story that comes to mind is that we had a ball python get loose one time, and it scared the pants off of the new store manager when he found it

I'll tell you more about it when I get it! Right now I probably won't get if for several weeks. It is a Animal Plastics economy rack for adults if you wanted to go look at them. I'm super excited to get it, and get everyone on one system instead of 3 separate ones.
Can't wait to see what you bring home!

I dont doubt that about employees. I have had staff tell me here, we have to do sand substrate, for example, because corporate makes us. And yes, always good to be kind. It can be challenging working with public sometimes.
