First time with a live plant - anubias nana

I bought an anubias nana at Petsmart on Sunday and just put it in my tank today. I'm a little confused on whether it's okay to plant in the sand substrate or if I should let it float or tie it somehow.

It's currently planted in the sand, as you can see in the photo. I just want to make sure this is okay for it. If not, I'd be grateful for any advice on the best way to place it in my tank.

Well, Anubias are better off tied to something. They have a rhizome (the hard part) which can decay if burried in sand :P Good Luck having live plants is really fun and addicting ha ha :)

If you've only planted the roots it will be fine. As Litelbyoblu said, the rhizome can rot if planted. But yours looks okay to me as the rhizome isn't completely in the substrate.

I made sure to cover just the roots, so I'm hoping it will be okay. Thanks, Russell and litelboyblu.
