Pest snail identifcation?

I came home and chilling on velvets Anubias Nana which continues to float because it doesnt want to stay planted is this little guy. I used the plant tweezers to move him and he fell and started scurrying along Velvets hidey. I know its a pest snail lol. I'm curious to know where the guy came in from. I have never seen him until now. The recent plant was the DHG and this was the link it was ordered from which says "TC cup from Greenpro grown with sterile process with special gel to ensure to be free from algae, disease, pest and snail. " Other than that the last plants were during christmas. The snail actually blends in decently and I'm not like massivly worried so I might leave it alone but I can't help but be curious if theres a name to call his type aside from pest snail lol

That's a ramshorn. As far as I know it shouldn't reproduce if it's the only one in the tank. It likely came in at Christmas. They are very, very tiny as hatchlings, about the size of the head of a pin, and if he hasn't had a lot of food to much on he would have grown slowly.

Ramshorns reproduce both sexually and asexually.

But pest snails depend on who your taking to, I personally love my pest snails (MTS mostly, and baby rams). They a great clean up crew, and useful indicators on whether I'm feeding too much - population boom - and know when to cut back a bit. MTS also help to stir up my sand, which saves me from doing it myself.

I gave my friend 1 of my baby ramshorns a good 6 months, or more, ago and it's never reproduced even though it's now an adult. I'd grant you that if the ramshorn was an adult it'd probably already mated and be carrying eggs, but as far as I know they need a male and female in order to reproduce. So if you get one as a baby, before it has a chance to reach sexual maturity, it will be incapable of reproducing by it's little lonesome self. You need 2 for them to reproduce, but given that they are hermaphrodite the sex of the snail is not important. Once they have mated then apparently they do not need to mate again.

Ah. Well as I said I don't see any other ones. But then again that one does blend in well with the decor so theres always the chance I'm missing another. Who knows?
