Power outage -21 degrees out 😞

Lost power air temp is -21 out. Luckily I topped everyone off last night with warmish water. Did so again this morning. Temp has dropped 5 degrees in about an hour in my house. I have all the fish tanks wrapped in towels/blankets. We humans are still warm for now. Hoping they get it going soon. Worried!

Worrying!

Hope you get the power back soon.

Round here you can usually buy gas bottle heaters in hardware shops. Although of course the gas fumes are not ideal.

70litre tank: mature setup; betta, purple rasboras, male guppies, amano and wood shrimp. Heavily planted.
22litre cube tank: (Tagawa); betta, yellow dwarf shrimp. Pond snails and 1 assassin. Heavily planted.
Midnight in the 57litre tank (Midnight) ember tetras, 1 amano, 1 ghost, 1 nerite, pond snails, 1 assassin, doing his thing. Heavily planted.
200litre tank; honey gourami, cherry barbs, green neons, otocinclus, nerites, pond snails, amano. Heavily planted.

Thank you, it came back on. Some of the smaller tanks dropped a degree or two...I dosed with stressguard, slowly bring the house temp up as to now blow the furnace. Also think all of the filter sponges stayed wet enough, I did have to take the sponge out of my 10 gallon as it wasn't submerged enough, threw that in a bucket with tank water. Hopefully it didn't stress them as much as me! Crazy weather for us this January!

I'm in North Western Pennsylvania in a small town that has power outages when the wind blows hard. it is -7 degrees here now with a lite dusting of snow this morning. The wind is at 10 mph gusting to 30 mph. I'm very worried about having a power outage also, But when we moved to this area 5 years ago I did invest in two gas generators. I've never had to use them since the power company around here does all they can to get service back on in a very short time. We have a small house and for the most part we can heat it with the Gas stove, and our fire place. And we will have lights. The generators will keep essentials operating but I think the aquariums will need to have the filters turned off. So water changes will be the order of the day. I can heat water on the stove if need be. I do understand the stress you are going through in Wisconsin. -65 degrees with wind chill is just a tad bit cool.
The one company I drove for was based in Min. Twin city's area. There were winter days there (should say weeks ) where the Temperature at night reached -50 and never got past -20 during the day.
Stay warm as you can and my prayers are with you.

Glad you are back up @bettatanksalot

And I hope your power stays up @Old Dog 59

We have some snow forecast tonight and the next day or so, but nothing like as low as you, and very unlikely to have powercuts. Am very glad to say. Will think of you.

Thanks guys! It is crazy! It has been pretty mild winters since I moved here, we had one big blizzard but nothing like this. I work at a mall for now and it keeps closing which is unheard of. Have two interviews tomorrow supposed to be equally as cold should be interesting... anxious to get those done and back to warmth. We are supposed to get back into 40s this weekend with rain. Then 2 feet of snow will melt and flooding will be an issue some places I’m sure.

I'm in Wisconsin too and this is crazy weather, even for us! I remember back in my junior year of high school (2014) we had a couple of cold days where there wasn't school but it was not this bad. Our mail is even canceled, that's when you know its bad!
