Looks like your friend's fish may be bloated. Could you start a thread on these?

it may be fin rot. Ripping in the fins caused the fins to become easy victims to fin rot he may of already had from the pet store because I have been cleaning his 2.5 gal tank once a week (he lives alone in it no tank mates) it could also be from the carbon in the filter, even thought I rinsed it before I got put it in my filter.

You should be able to see regrowth in the fins after you remove the cause (which in this case is probably the plastic plant), so your betta's fins should be healed soon. As long as his fins aren't tearing any more they should grow back.

Although I he's a veiltail his fins started riping when I added a plastic plant. The only decor I have is three tubes covered in fake (but soft) moss (he also can turn around in them), a rounded rock fixture one silk plant and a leafhamock. I already removed the plastic plant. its hard to give a description of it but all I can say is he looks like a crowntail but he's not a crowntail. I just got an iphone so I got a way better picture with it then with my itouch, as alot of people say a picture is worth a thousand words!

Hey- I saw your notification. Can you post a thread that explains his injuries more clearly?
Are you sure he's not tearing his fins on any sharp decor?
