Thank you Pippin!! I have not been on for a few months due to some health issues but things are going great and my little Betta fish Bijou's fins stopped the fin rot and are successfully growing back after the last 2 months of natural meds and vaccuming every day or taking out excess waste. He is in love with my 3 month old mystery snail named Goldie. They are so funny together and very entertaining! Thanx for accepting my friend request xo
Dear Pippin, Thank you so much. Sorry for the late reply, I have been sick for some time.
But amazingly after taking your kind advice, I just got a small glimpse just yesterday in what appears to be white at the very ends of Bijou's fins.. Unfortunately the snail produces a lot of waste so I thought at first it was Java Moss but i guess that's the snail's poop? I remove the greenish/black stuff on the bottom all the time and keep the water super clean. I also just learned that i should turn off the artificial lighting before i go to bed and let his tank be dark while i keep just a very low light on in the living room. After 30 minutes, i cover up his tank. It's funny cuz of my routine, the snail Goldie just went to bed in this big cave i got. Anyway things are going great. P.S. I have owned 3 guinea pigs and they were the cutest. Thank you so much once again for viewing my album and for reassuring me.
Hi Dehlia! I'm Megan, and I'm really glad my advice could help you! I'm also glad that you found the forums. If you need help, you can always ask either me or them!I love helping new betta keepers. Also, I had a look through your album, and Bijou is so pretty! He and his snail look so happy, & I love the picture of him "guarding" his thermometer friend; his little face is just so cute! Also, 78F is a perfect temperature for bettas. Their water should always be between 78F & 80F. You seem to be doing just fine actually, for a new betta keeper! With care, and a lot of water changes(seriously: water changes are the holy grail of betta fish care), his fins should start to recover! Fin rot is something all betta keepers have had to deal with at one point or another, because as beautiful as our babies are, they are quite fragile. Anyways, I'm rambling about bettas now, so I should cut myself off! Good luck with your fish keeping journey and tell Bijou that he's a very pretty boy!
Hello there, I am brand new here and haven't made a post as I have never joined a forum but your advice was very helpful for the other person's betta's fin rot. Mine was given to me on July 31st and about a week later, my male got his fins torn by a plastic anemone pink toy. The 'fish specialist' person lol said it would do no harm. But he didn't like it and was nipping at it and then a few days after his half moon tail was damaged. So i am doing a lot of what you said in your post but i am grateful for your knowledge as you have owned fish for so long! I am Dehlia from Canada
