Welcome to the Forum!
I hope you find us as helpful as we try to be and will weigh in when you have experience and advice to offer.
Your boy has a lovely home. Now that it is done how many more will you build?

Hello, and welcome to the forum!
You have a very nice tank, the betta is an awesome color too.
Personally, if the inverts are shrimp, then I would wait a while until your tank has matured after it's cycled. Shrimp are very sensitive to water alterations and can be affected by the slightest amount of ammonia.
You can do snails as well, they aren't at sensitive an can be added once your tank is cycled, but allow your tank to mature. You will know when it becomes mature once it starts growing a bit of algae.

Hi everyone, I've been out of the fish hobby for a few years, but a month or so ago I started to get set up again and thought I'd join a forum to have some sort of outlet to talk to people about fish stuff other than annoying the heck out of my husband (lol)
Almost done cycling a 5 gal planted tank that currently only houses a slightly neurotic, partially blind male HMPK to which I'm planning to add a few inverts when it's complete.
Other household members include:
2 male cats, one domesticated feral tabby/bengal mix, and one tubby, overly domesticated tabby who thinks he's a dog
2 very happy orchids
3 tiny 6-month old seedling cacti
and one extremely happy pink-veined angel fittonia
attached should be a picture of the current state of the tank, which is admittedly awkwardly messy looking, but hopefully will turn into a lush jungle as things grow in ^^
