Well I'm going to give Morry a couple of days to get use to his tank, And tank Mate. Gilford has been giving the new guy a wide birth. But both are being sociable. and like I said before there are a lot of plants to hide in and get away. Seeing how Gilford was in the tank first he knows all the hides. Morry needs to learn them. He is at present exploring his new digs and I had the light on for about a half hour and decided it might be better to keep the tank as dark as I could for until tomorrow. I'll let him settle in and get use to the tank and me. It'll be a little harder on him to get use to me. LOL
Morry ate a little when I took him out of his cup and put him in a clean bowl so that was a good sign. He had no problem recognizing the Omega One Betta Buffet flakes as food. from the looks of the mess on the bottom of his cup. (there must have been days of uneaten food on the bottom.) he was use to some sort of flake food. I saw the Tetra Min flakes sitting on a shelf with the nets so he was eating flakes but not good betta food. (Some times I wonder.)
He has flared since being put in his new home. I think he was warning Gilford to just leave him alone for a while. Later I saw home following Gilford around the tank and through the plants. (No malice to Gilford but I guess Gilford was showing him some good hides.) I really hope they get along for now.
And Yes Veloran I can honestly say with out a doubt I'm nuts. LOL

You know, I try not to patronize the Walmart fish section, I actually kept complaining to the Walmart down the street from where I lived and when they stopped stocking bettas, I like to think it was because of me (rather than the fish not selling), but I'm a big believer in your pet choosing you.
When I went to pick out my last betta (who wound up being named Mishi), I knew what tail type and wanted and what colors I wanted and he was nothing like that. He didn't even react to me when I picked up his cup, he just kept looking at the same spot in the store even when I moved his cup, but I knew he had to come home with me. Instantly and even after a couple of weeks, I kept wondering if I made a mistake and bought the wrong fish, if I could be satisfied with this one or if I needed to go get the one I really wanted. But, even through all of the work I needed to treat his mysterious illnesses, his special needs, his constantly raggedy fins, if you told me I could go back and swap him for the exact fish I wanted on that day I bought him, I absolutely would not change a thing.
Yea, I think most of us are just a little bit nuts.

You have a big heart. That is a great thing! I can go on and on about compassion and pets.
Looking forward to pictures of Morry. He's a lucky fella to have a new, wonderful home to thrive in.

Getting soft or just stupid.
I did something today I have not done in years. I actually bought (Yes I said bought) a betta from Walmart. He is a very fine looking Red VT. At first he seemed a little sluggish when I looked him over with out touching his cup. I wanted to see what condition he was in so I put my figure up to the cup in front of his face, and he flared, and headed for the back of his cup. I picked up the cup and started to slowly tun it checking to see if he had any fin damage. His fins and gills seemed fine and he was active. However the crud in his cup was telling me he didn't have long until he would meet the same fate the other 6 betta there had done. He was either part of a new shipment, or he was a fighter.
I showed him to my wife and she just gave me a look like WELL? You know I would never want him staying here in those conditions. So home he came. On the way home I asked her about a name She said well he's maroon red, how about Morry? I liked it and it stuck. He is being accumulated to his new digs (Gilford Guppy's tank) So he will have a very peaceful tank mate. Gilford will be up for company after being so long with out any others in the tank. As soon as I can I will get some pictures of him and post them here.
Ma that little baby Mustard better hurry and get big. I'm starting to run out of tanks. I only have 3 5.5 gal. left to fill. But than again I still have 6 empty 10 gal. as soon as I uncover where I put them. I think they may be in the sun room in back of a lot of bags. LOL
