Guys, I really don't get why so many of you are freaking out. This isn't a terrible thing. Hackers cause all kinds of problems, and it makes it harder for bots to register for an account.
Also, to the people getting angry that there are still some mentions of cars on the forum because of the script being used...I would like to invite you to try and edit the source code of a forum plugin script in your spare time while also managing and engaging with a community. I ran and coded forums for years, and I know first hand that it is a challenge to keep members happy and continue development at the same time. It is also difficult in the game dev field where I currently am, so I really understand the struggle. You guys hating on them really need to chill. They aren't charging you for this site, and you are here of your own free will, so calm the heck down.
I personally applaud what the team here is doing. In the short time I've been here, you guys have not only redone the design, but added a ton of nice features. (@ tagging is one of my personal faves I use on my forums so I was happy to see it here :) )

Thank you Yung, I appreciate that someone is looking out for members benefit. I'm sure it has not been easy for you trying to make sense of the situation. Most humans don't like change when not on their terms.
I don't know if this is an all voluntary site but if so, kudos to all the mods / admins. I was admin in groups in a photog site and it's a thank less job that takes quite abit of time.
I'll do whatever it takes to comply, this is an interesting site.

I know not everyone has or will agree with the measure of our security upgrade. We apologize that it's an inconvenience and it will be something we will take into consideration down the road as things settle down (as in, whether or not we will change the requirements of the password). Right now, our focus and efforts are on this implementation and making sure everyone gets back into their account ASAP.

When your computer gets a virus, it looks in those plain text files for information including credit card numbers, passwords, and other important information. That is the Top way to get an account hacked, besides using a public computer and forgetting to log out.

|sapphirelily||I was fleetfish! I had to re-register ... the e-mail address I used to register is so old that I forgot the password to it and couldn't get in to find my reset message. I'm also fine with the password change deal, it's only once a year. So here I am, and if I broke a rule or anything I'm sorry but I have been on BF for so long that I couldn't just leave :)|

|moodynarwhal||I read the security notice, and I think I understand what happened now. The site was hacked and they got people's passwords for the site and their emails. If you used the same password for your email and the site, they could hack your email. Then they could do goodness knows what.|
