What can you tell me about Apollo?

Hi guys I bought this recently and he was named as EE only. I have no idea what his lineage is or the tail. Also under what colour would you label him as? I intend to pair him with a EE HMPK Gold female shortly. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9c6e170540.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c23efb5b83.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1522fe24b7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...fd2f76728d.jpg

He is an Elephant ear and I would call him a Half Moon, with the coloring being Peach. He is a beautiful color and a very handsome boy,

Welcome to the Forum!

He's a very pretty bi-color EE. Without a flaring photo difficult to tell if he's HM, OHM, etc.

I would watch his dorsal if the second photo is accurate. Might be normal but could be melting, too.

Wow he is stunning! Ive never seen a betta with quite that color before. Nice find! Not to get off topic but Russel what do you mean by his dorsal fin "melting"? Ive never heard of that before...

swee777 08-20-2019 11:51 AM

I'm new to betta also, but wanted to say beautiful betta, but also I don't know what melting is either.

indjo 08-20-2019 11:57 AM

I think what Russell meant was the possibility of early sign of infection (white, fuzzy on end of fins).

He looks like a HM EE. Not sure what to call his coloring though - but he sure looks gorgeous.

How can I tag people? Lol Someone on a betta Facebook suggested him to be a pineapple with some iridescent that makes his body look slightly purplish. They called it pinkish i see more purple than pink but thats me.

I'll keep an eye on it. That picture was taken under special light might be making that effect also. Atm I am not going to disturb him as I'm pairing him to an EE HMPK platinum gold (to me she is basically white tho but that's what she was labelled under [emoji23]). They are still in the meet and greet stages but hopping that the female being pure she will bring out all the hidden genes of the male. Lets hope for a good outcome, she is being difficult lolhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8ba7e50171.jpg

That pairing will produce lots of possibilities because both are multi genetic combo colors.

Male may carry irid, red, and cambodian genes. While female may carry irid, cambodian, and metallic.

If crossed, NR (non red from red gene pool - yellow, orange) usually return to red in F1. So you might have many multi with red.

Cambodian in both should produce cambodian line colors, whether cambodian x red lines or cambodian x irid lines.

You should lose the white/platinum, or at least none will be solid one color - probably platinum with some level of red.

Since irid, which is carried by both, is most dominant, you should produce a number of irid line colors, all of which should be multi colors.

Good luck.

Indjo you are so knowledgeable, thank you very much for the explanation it was great. Unfortunately Russell was right, Apollo had fin melt and I could not treat him [emoji17] he passed last night.
