I have an adf and ghost shrimp in a six gallon with no casualties for the last six months. I've seen my frog try to catch a shrimp a time or two but the frog is too slow.

Shrimp will not survive in a newly set up tank. They need a well established tank with stable water parameters. Just don't wanna see anybody throw money away.

I had problems with algea with my 20 gallon. I cut down the lighting to 8 hrs a day and started dosing excel. Took care of the problem and has never come back.

I personally don't think co2 is worth it unless you're upgrading the lighting. These lights are no where near high light.
