  1. If I baffle my filter outtake will the tank still stay cycled

    Betta Fish Care
or will there not be enough circulation? My betta, Bloom, is much happier for it. I simply took a piece of plastic and melted the edges so it's not sharp, then clipped it to the outtake. The intake is very mellow and doesn't bother him. many thanks!
  2. Show me your waterfall baffle

Betta Fish Bowls, Habitats, and Accessories
I have read the ENTIRE baffle thread, and I know there is at least one other waterfall globe in there but I couldn't decipher what the baffle was actually made of. I have a tetra 1.8 globe I'd like to move my baby into but even with a sponge baffle there's still enough current to sway the...
  3. Need some help with my filter baffle.

Betta Fish Bowls, Habitats, and Accessories
My boyfriend noticed last night that the filter was hardly filtering. Just a little trickle into the sponge. We replaced the pantyhose around the suction portion (icky icky) and WHOOSH super strong filter. It created quite the current and little Norman was not enjoying it. Anyways, now that...
  4. DIY Filter Baffle for Marina 360 Tank

Betta Fish Bowls, Habitats, and Accessories
Here is an incredibly simple and effective method for baffling the Marina 360 Tank. Buy some white Fluval Foam pad (says "For U2") on the box, or similar product. It should be thin, maybe 1/4 to 3/8". Cut the pad into a triangle shape, with a bar across the point of one triangle. The...
  5. Way to minimize airstone current?

    Betta Chat
I needed to add an airstone to my tank because I added ghost shrimp. I was trying to think of a way I can break the current at least in some section of the tank so that my fish can still build bubblenests if he wants. The airstone isn't remotely strong and I have a basic check valve on it, but...
  6. Air pump baffle on a 2.5g tank

Betta Fish Bowls, Habitats, and Accessories
Hey guys. First off I really want a filter in my tank. I realize that there are people out there that say you don't need a filter for betta. Let alone a sponge filter with an airpump. But I'm OCD and care for my fish. And want the most ideal environment for him. That being said I want to get a...
  7. New Tank, Filter Problems

Betta Fish Bowls, Habitats, and Accessories
So, I got a new 10 gallon tank last night for two of my betta boys, Triton and Pallaton. I decorated it and it is divided and they both seem quite happy. Not too preoccupied with flaring at each other, though that does happen here and there. They both have a theme of hiding places and plants to...
  8. Fluval Chi Filter Help

Betta Fish Bowls, Habitats, and Accessories
Hello all, I just got a new betta, Sligo, and I have him in my Fluval Chi tank. I owned a betta previously who seemed to be okay with the filter flow, but Sligo seems to be really stressed out by how strong it is. I had the filter out of the tank for a while, and he seemed to be doing...
  9. How to make a baffle for this filter?

Betta Fish Bowls, Habitats, and Accessories
Hello all. Just got a new filter and I'm not sure how to baffle it. The current is really really strong and definitely not calm enough for my sister's male betta. However I'm not sure how to go about doing the plastic bottle baffle method because this filter is set up differently. Anyone...
  10. Filter suction too strong, can it be helped?

Betta Fish Bowls, Habitats, and Accessories
My boyfriend just finished getting his new Betta Prince into his aquarium. Prince seems to love it but the filter is too strong. It is a Top Fin Filter 10, which is what came with his 'kit'. He found sources to baffle the flow, but hasn't found anything for the in-take. You can tell the fish is...
  11. Please help! (Filter sponge)

Betta Fish Bowls, Habitats, and Accessories
Is this right? What/how should I do it differently? if I am doing it wrong. :|:-D
  12. Should I Baffle The Filter

    Other Fish
I'm using an aquaclear 50 in a 29 gallon and i think it is 270 gph or something like that. I'm housing 2 small fancy goldfishes and they seem to have difficulties swimming around. I'm wondering if it is a good idea to baffle the filter with the water bottle thingy or will they adjust or something?
  13. Under-gravel filter baffle?

Betta Fish Bowls, Habitats, and Accessories
Hi all! I recently bought my first betta and I was simply wondering if there was a good way to baffle the undergravel filter that came with the tank I got? That is the tank there, but I have a blue one...
  14. Help please :)

Betta Fish Bowls, Habitats, and Accessories
How to make a baffle for my filter? it is a fluval 1plus. It's fully submersible and my Betta's tail is always getting sucked in so I've temporarily covered it with a stocking but am looking for something different. :-?
  15. Step-by-Step Styrofoam Cup Filter Baffle

Betta Fish Bowls, Habitats, and Accessories
Hello fellow Betta lovers. I just thought I would share my creation with you, for those of you who have an issue with your filter having too strong of a water flow. I tried the plastic bottle baffle but it just didn't work for me  So I tried out a Styrofoam cup and with a few tweaks and...
  16. Is it possible to baffle a water filter too much?

    Betta Fish Care
Mine was still creating a little stream and Gizmo really doesn't like it -- he won't move around as much when that thing is on. So today I added an extra piece of aquarium sponge to the side of the outtake and I used black electrical tape and wrapped it several times around everything, haha...
  17. Playing in the current?

    Betta Chat
Alle and Macceroni insist on playing all day, literally ALL DAY (if they can) in the baffled-ish current of my biowheel. They seem to be enjoying it, and have more than enough space to move away from it, but choose to usually go over there and swim up, swim down, and so forth @[email protected] It made...
  18. Baffle not working?

    Betta Fish Care
The filter I'm using in Poseidon's new 5 gallon tank is too strong, so I attempted to baffle it. I used the instructions I found here to make a baffle out of a water bottle, but the there is still a current. Is there anything I might be doing wrong? Also, are there alternative baffle options...
