I am a 1 week old aquarist who just got his first tank setup, a 3 gallon tetra half moon with a filter for my Betta fish, but I want to get him a heater. This was the one I wanted (below) but the lady at the store wouldn't sell it to me saying it will melt my plastic tank. Any...
Fairly certain my betta has fin melt. Friend watched him when we were gone on vacation, I came home to him losing color and starting to get sick.
- Color loss
- Back tail has "melted"
- clamped fins
- Rusty spots by gills
- Not as active
- Attempts to eat, but will spit the food back up.
So i was setting up everything to breed bettas and my dad said he was concerned that an aquarium heater would melt the plastic on the container. I'm wondering if this is true or not, and if it is what can i do to keep it from melting the container?
