ripped fins

My Betta fish that I got May 2nd hasn't been doing good since he was put in his tank. He hasn't been eating, swimming around + his fins are rotting I think? I'll attach a picture of them later in not currently home. But can anyone help me pls? Thanks!

My Betta's fins have been getting more and more tattered recently, despite being in a big 2.5 gallon tank. Has he been fin nipping? I'm pretty sure there is nothing sharp in the tank that could catch his fins. Here's the best picture I could get of him.
