Hello all!

I've had my betta, Pastel, in a 5 gallon since I got him nearly 3 months ago. Today my father offered to buy me a 10 gallon (yay :) ) and we picked up the Glofish 10 Gallon Aquarium Kit. It comes with a Whisper 2-10 internal filter, and dad insisted that I have 2 of them and bought me another. Will having 2 filters stress him out? I have them plugged in, and the flow isn't strong as far as I can tell, I have them both down on the lowest notches. I transferred the filter media from my 5 gal into the new 10 gal, so he's already in there. Seemed alittle spooked at first from all the extra room (it's alittle bare, I'm waiting for my Mopani wood to come in tomorrow to fill up some space) but now he's seemed to have calmed down and is leaning on his water hyacinth. Should it be fine having 2 if I just plant a silk plant in front of each of them to muffle the flow a bit?

Keep an eye on him. If he starts clamping, fin biting, or looking miserable, pull one out. But otherwise, if he seems fine, I don't see it hurting. I had one who LIKED the heavy current (he was a VT) and the only ones that seem bothered by filters are my bad swimmer, and my two really heavy tailed boys. What kind is he? A VT?

Alright, I checked on him this morning and he seems to be doing alright. But when he sits still I noticed the current pulls his body to the side, if it keeps doing that after I position some silk plants around then I'll take one out. and actually he's a Twin-Tail Halfmoon! That picture was taken while he was swimming about, his fins are normally in that gorgeous circular-shape ;-) Could possibly be why the current pulls him around, I assume his fins would be the equivalent of ship sails in the wind.

oh good grief! a twin tail halfmoon? That's a LOT of finnage! I would be worried about the current with that guy! But then again, I had a halfmoon who loved surfing his current before he went blind, so there is just no telling. Just keep an eye on him and if he looks stressed, pull one.

I have 2 filters in each of my ten gallons: an internal filter with spong and spray bar, and the HOB filter it came with. I do have it divided so one fish on each half of the tank.
