Hi all. I have a well established heavily planted 15 gallon tank with two peacock gudgeons, one male and one female. I am obsessed with betta sororities though and wondering if my gudgeons will be ok in the same tank as 5 baby girl bettas. i have been searching for info on compatibility of the two but cant find any info anywhere. does anyone have experience with this?

I know it depends a lot on the individual bettas, there is breeder near me so I am aiming to get 5 girls very young from the same spawn as well, so I think I'll be able to pick out ones that will have decent temperament.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but Peacocks are semi-aggressive, correct? I thought they were territorial. IMO I wouldn't do it, especially since Sororities are so unpredictable. I've had 3. One worked until Columnaris attacked, the other two failed within two weeks; all with three different batches of girls, one from the same breeder. Get a 20G Long and divide it in 4, get 4 nice girls and leave it at that. These little fish aren't called Siamese Fighting Fish for no reason.

I'm pretty sure the peacocks are shy and peaceful. I have had them for a while with a number of other fish with out problems. Apparently the male can become somewhat territorial when spawning but I have not had any issues with that. While a divided 20 gal sounds great, I really want to do a sorority and I have heard they can work! Just wondering if anyone else has had experience with the gudgeons in particular. Talked to a couple guys a few aquarium shops in my area who all seem to think it is possible.
