Hello everybody :) I know a couple of you were asking about the Hawkeye 5 gallon from walmart.com. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and decided to make a short video review. I don't normally do them so it wasn't planned or very good at all xD But there's a video reference for you if you need it!

And I get to show off my purdy betta so I'm happy :D

Here's the link!

Thanks a lot guys :D

Just an update on that - I DID ultimately end up changing the baffle on the tank. The filter is awkwardly shaped to where tape just wouldn't hold it. So I ended up using a hairband to keep it on annnnd it works remarkably well! lmbo.

Hi,

Love the tank setup. How did you baffle the filter? Also, I think I read somewhere that you can use a different cartridge than the one it comes with. Are you doing that or sticking with the original? Just curious. I want to add fast growing plants to mine but don't know if the light is strong enough.

This is the tank I want to get. I've been wary of ordering from Wal-Mart online, though, because all the hawk eye tanks they carry seem to often be cracked in the store, and I don't want to bother with having order one, and send it back however many times it takes to get one that isn't cracked.

Hi! Thank you! I baffled the filter the standard way that most people are doing it. I cut a piece of plastic bottle out and tied it on with a rubber band/hair band. VERY easy. All you need is scissors, plastic bottle, and a hairband. The way this filter is it was four jets that streak out straight forward. So I cut the bottle piece on one side and basically had it right in front of the jets so it lessened the stream and made it easier for my betta to swim.

Well, I've never seen them in store so I'm not sure about that ): I can assure you that mine came in spotless but I suppose it may be hit or miss.

For the deal though, I'd say it's worth the risk!

Thanks for the video!! Nice set up!

Our tank just arrived from Walmart.com today. Ordered it a few days ago, paid 97 cents for shipping and it wasn't supposed to be here until the 17th...so I was happy when FedEx showed up with it today!
The outside box was dinged up in one corner - but the box inside with the tank was fine.
So far I've got it sitting on the counter with water in it to make sure there are no leaks.
Now to order the last things we need for it from Foster & Smith and when they come in we'll get it going.
I've not put the hood on it or hooked the filter up yet.

I will post pics of ours when we have it decorated, up and running.
Now...the Barbie ornament it will contain is due to my six year old daughter. Hope whatever fish we get likes pink - haha.

I bought a 5 gallon tank from Walmart, same brand and everything. The only thing different is the shapes and lights. It is and LED light setup that lights the tank. Also, the water filter also has a baffle on it already :) I have a few pics in my album if you would like to see it. I can take more pictures if you need.

I had posted a thread in the wrong area before -_- I'm working on getting one in the right section now :p So far he's still acting very weird, but hopefully I can figure out what's going on soon.
