I just got my beautiful new salamander betta's from Karen a couple days ago and divided a 10gal for them to finish growing in with plastic craft canvas. I didn't think they would be able to see each other since the holes are so small but they can and at 1st the males were side by side and kept flarring at each other constantly so I put a female between the males and they didn't flare at the girls so much. Well, now my females are getting really eggy and the males made bubble nests. Is it bad for the females to be getting eggy this young? Will them seeing each other affect how willing to breed they are when the time comes? One of the females isn't evenly eggy and one side of her stomach is bigger than the other which makes her kind of off balance when shes up at the top, is this normal?

How old is the fish.
With some of my offspring I notice that some female get eggy as early as 2 3/4 month.
Plus if you spilt your fish.
They mature faster

Plus how big is the female.
I've bred female as small as 1.25 in long

In a divided tank, ready females will drop and eat her eggs. If you plan to eventually breed them, I suggest to move them to a non male tank. Leave a gap between the two males so they don't stress flaring with each other. Better yet put plants in that gap so they can't see each other clearly.

Does anyone have any suggestions about my female that is unevenly eggy? Its so bad now that she floats on her side at the top like shes got SBD and its a struggle for her to swim down. The other female isn't nearly as eggy as she is.
@Curlyfatbottom I'm terrible with measurement but I'd say she is about a inch and 1/4th of an inch long.

I think u have sbd.
Eggy female just look fat.
They can still swim perfectly fine
