I just got a fifth (good lord...) betta fish, Lux. He's an aggressive and active little guy! I noticed there's a difference in his eyes, though. In one, I can clearly see a sort of half-closed eye with reflections of steel blue. The other, however, just appears to reflect black. Is that normal? (if I can get a pic soon, I will!) He seems perfectly fine, though.

If he isn't acting strangely or bumping into stuff I wouldn't be worried. It could possibly be a strange mutation or pigment.

Hm, interesting. My Ludendorff is a multicolored VT and he has bright sky metallic blue in his eyes when they turn a certain way. Just gorgeous. It would be cool to get a pic, but it might just be his coloring

He may just be one in a million with two different colored eyes I know my blue-eyed dalmation's blue eyes you can only really see the blue color on the bottom half.
Blue eyes are uncommon.. but I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as his eyes aren't cloudy or ballooned out.

my fish looks like he has human eyes ... it looks like he has brown eyes with pupils and everything. i always thought fishes eyes were just black i guess... maybe i just never thought about it much

lol!!! The first time I saw thier dark eyes they really had so much soul and life!! They can turn their eyes and look around. It's like with rodents. Little mice and rats have pupils too, even though they look like shiny beads!

It's always wierd when my rats' eyes catch the light. You think they've been looking one way and then the light shows that their pupils are pointed off in a different direction!
