I have yet to set up my new Betta home. It will be in a Mini Bow 2.5 gallons. Not setting it up yet as I am moving end of this month. I have been reading books and your threads here. I am wondering I have a small collection of stones like amethyst. How should I clean them for the fish home? I have already wash and rinsed them in soap, water and a little vinegar. I am thinking this was a mistake. Any remedy? Thanks

Be careful with stones, some can change the alkalinity, pH or general hardness of you water and if those are already high then you wouldn't want to add them in. I'm not so sure about amethyst but also be very careful of rough geodes and sharp crystal edges as they too, can rip a bettas fins.

Thank you that is a very good site for a new person. I put it in favorites. I have done the vinegar test they talk about but will do it again and then the boiling water.
