Hello, I am trying to figure out how to manage the green algae in my tank. I try to get rid of it and it just keeps coming back.

Help would be greatly appreciated!!

Is the tank in front of a window? How long is the tank light on for in a day? Do you use any plant fertilizers in the tank?

Too much light, too much nutrients and poor plant growth can all lead to algae. I’d try to siphon the bottom as well as you can without distributing any plants, think about raising your light (it’s easy to have too much in a shallow tank) and remove any dead plant matter you may find. Are the plants growing well? Algae can still happen if they are, but if she aren’t, getting your plants happy would be the first step, to help them outcompete. I remove some green thread algae every week and just ordered a phosphate test kit to see if that’s a factor.

ill look into the light issue first and the plants which seem like they are doing fine. But ill give that some time...hopefully that fixes it, if not ill be back for more advice.

I'd buy a snail. most of the time, the small ones don't do anything, so I'd buy some bigger ones if your tank isn't that small.
