Hello everyone! When I got home this morning, I noticed that my 2 year old betta had algae growing on the tips of his fins. This was very surprising.
Have any of you guys had this happen before?

This specific beta has HUGE fins and constantly has problems with them.
He always gets pinholes, no matter how good the water quality is.
I do a 50% water change once a week in his 7 gallon cycled tank.

The light is very strong because soon, I am going to plant the tank, so algae grows very easily. Maybe that has something to do with the algae growing on his fins?

I am not really sure what to do about this because I have never seen it before

Is it algae or has he contracted a fungus?

I'm pretty sure it is algae, the structure of it is so algae-like and it isn't growing like a fungus would. It also is only on the very very tips and I am pretty sure that it isn't spreading. One of them already came off.

Then it'll probably fall off with movement/lack of sun
