So my 5 gallon tank has this algae on the back of the tank.. Is this a healthy algae? Is it okay to have it in my tank or should I use a sponge and scrub it off?

That's what I'd do. Snails are awesome. Especially Nerites--so pretty.

Do Nerite snails lay eggs?

Totally agree. only i have mystery snails. for boring, slow moving creatures, they are fascinating to watch.

I don't like mystery snails because I don't like the eggs they lay on under the tank hood :/ my mystery snails always did that..

Could be diatoms. Otos, Amano shrimp, and some snails will eat it, but it should go away eventually. If it's diatoms.

I have a snail-breeding tank and it's my favorite one to sit in front of and watch.

I have Armani shrimp on the way! they are shipping to my house!
