Lower the lighting level to 8 hours a day

Add plants such as duckweed, hornwort, and java moss

Is what I would recommend

Hm... Excess algae growth could be caused by too much sunlight (process of photosynthesis). Is the tank in a window?
I clean out my 2 tanks weekly, never seen algae in them ever. I don't know what could cause such rapid growth!! Maybe an algae eater or pleco or even some moss balls could help? Moss balls are actually a type of algae themselves but they compete with the bad algae for food- inhibiting growth of the bad algae. Maybe you'd need a couple in a tank like yours though.

Good luck!
