I know I ask alot of questions on here but i had bad luck with Bettas and I really like this one and get worried over everythig. im probably just paranoid from past experiences with Bettas but my Bettas fin on his belly looks a little rough at the bottom and I dont think it was like that when I got him. It doesnt look like fin rot. It's been like this for a few days and hasnt gotten worse. Thereafter a little tear that looks like he got snagged on a plant but other than that it just looks rough. The rest of the fins are perfectly fine and hes healthy swimming and eatting. Maybe I'm just paranoid.Should i beworried? theres salt and stress coat in the tank and water parameters are spot on. And I just did a 30 % water change and added dechloronated water. He looks perfectly fine swimming around and eating tank is heated and filtered 5.5 gallon 78 degrees. He doesnt like It any warmer

Is he the betta in your photo?

If so, I imagine he's using that skull as a cave of sorts. I notice most things like that in pet stores are actually rather rough at the lip where the fish can swim in. If this is the case his fins can get ripped up just by hanging out in his cave.

If you think a plant is the culprit, try getting him some silk plants to prevent further damage

Thank you so much I'm switched to barrels after I noticed it but I'm going to take them out and the plants and just get silk plants! I got Betta fix just in case. He's active and eating fine so Idt he's sick

Another good place to check is inside the cave.. These things are usually poorly made, and no one notices if there is anything sharp on the inside..
Silk plants are a good option too!

I wouldn't use the betta fix.
The best medicine for torn fins is just to keep his water very clean

Thank you!! I took out the ornaments that could have hurt him and did a 40% change. If it gets worse I'll assume its fin rot and use the med

I lost 3 bettas to ich now I'm just paranoid over everything. Like he has a little red on his head and idk if it got bigger and now I'm nervous about that. I think its just his color

The colour on his head on your avatar looks like like natural colour to me.

I just took the picture. He's swimming normal eating healthy and colors are bright. Also if you can enlarge the pic you can see how his bottom fin looks ragged. There's no fungus looking fuzz or anything on it

I can't make it bigger.
Since his whole head is a lighter colour, I think the red is natural.. It may grow bigger over time.. Just look at him closely, you should be able to tell if it's just his scale colour or something on top of him..
It's normal for fins to be a little ragged.. they can grow back over time, but some fish just have fins like that.
