Hi everybody.
I don't know if a forum about this has been posted yet, but I wanted to share my experience. I got a beautiful new betta yesterday, and as I was setting up his tank I used Aqueon Betta Bowl Plus conditioner to condition and declorinate the water. I followed the directions on the bottle perfectly, and set up the tank and floated him in the tank and got him accustomed to the water like I have been doing for years with my bettas. When I went to bed he was fine, but when I woke up this morning he was dead. Normally I wouldn't blame it on the conditioner, but I also did a partial water change with the same conditioner with my year and a half female betta Minerva, and she had also passed over night. Her death affected me more than the new guy, but both are a tragedy.
I was wondering if anyone else had has this problem with Aqueon Betta Bowl Plus Conditioner? It is possible that I just got a bad batch of it, though because of this occurrence, I am never going to use it again.
Let me know about your experiences (or lack thereof) with this conditioner.
Thanks everyone.

I have the Aqueon minibow 2.5 g tanks for three of my boys, but have never used the conditioner it comes with. I'd recommend seachem prime actually.

So sorry to hear about your loss!

Like above, I've only used Seachem Prime in my tanks. I tend to shy away from conditioners or anything else that is marketed for bettas specifically. Most of the time they are overpriced and there is something else on the market that is better. The "betta" products are often sold in smaller sizes because most people believe that bettas do not need as much care.

Aqueon Betta Bowl Pus is actually better than Aqueon water conditioner. BB+ locks up ammonia, the regular Aqueon conditioner does not. This is the first time I've heard of any problems with it. I'm sorry you had a problem with it.

That said., Prime (by Seachem) is most often used and recommended around here. It's safe, effective, reliable, easy to use and less expensive by the dose.
