Its not a hassle to change a password, it's a hassle to change it to something with so many requirements. I am annoyed, there is no logical reason for this site to have such strict password requirements, it doesn't even store first and last names. Uppercase letters and numbers with an 8 character requirement is more than enough. I have different passwords I use for different things, and I can't use any for this site. That is the hassle, and that is why many people are complaining. There's just no reason for it. As I've seen mentioned multiple times, not even my bank login has this many password restrictions. This is a site for fish....

There is zero reason for this kind of forum to have the type of password security they want now ,as has been mentioned 8 alphanumerics are more than enough ,especially if they've been salted and hashed!

This is stupid, this is a piddly little forum with absolutely NO personal information. This excessive security is pure bollocks! If you feel you need to put that kind of security on it to where I have to keep a list of passwords here and type in some crazy long cryptic password to log in I feel I'm done here. It's a crying shame because I liked this forum. I may be back but the visits will few and far between, that is if I can remember then dang password.
I'm not sure if you have already, but when you're on a computer you can click the 'Remember Me' option when logging in, so everytime you get on, you'll already be logged on.

I don't have a problem with changing my password, just the "symbol" thing is a little annoying. Plus I've already had to change my password twice in two days because it keeps saying my password is incorrect.

I'm curious too if my password is going to be automatically changed again. i would have liked an email warning me first that it will be changed so i don't frantically try to input my password 5 times and get locked out for 15 minutes with no idea what happened. Especially if I need to get on to either hear back from someone about time sensitive stuff or get back to someone about something. I also think the requirements are a little far fetched for something like this. I can understand my school having this type of thing because you can get access to grades, financial aid stuff, and other important personal information from school website. I'll tolerate it because I love this site as a resource for stuff but since the update it has gone downhill. Getting help these days is like pulling teeth.

I didn't get that until the day after I changed my password as it wouldn't let me log on. What I meant was it would have been nice to recieve one stating " Administration will be changing passwords within the next so and so days please keep an eye out for an email with your new password and a link to reset that password"

I read the security notice, and I think I understand what happened now. The site was hacked and they got people's passwords for the site and their emails. If you used the same password for your email and the site, they could hack your email. Then they could do goodness knows what.

I was fleetfish! I had to re-register ... the e-mail address I used to register is so old that I forgot the password to it and couldn't get in to find my reset message. I'm also fine with the password change deal, it's only once a year. So here I am, and if I broke a rule or anything I'm sorry but I have been on BF for so long that I couldn't just leave :)

Why is it such a hassle to change a password? I bet the people complaining use 1or 2 passwords for everything including email, These same people probably still use the default log in to their routers,

As for having to type the password in every time try a password manager, or save it to as plain text and copy n paste, or if you realy want to have your browser remember it.

I have seven different passwords, each completely different. I am on over a fifty different websites, so NO I AM NOT going to have a different password for each one. It is ridiculous to have such high security for a password, when it was the website that got hacked. Change the passwords, let us use eight letters, and no symbol.

When your computer gets a virus, it looks in those plain text files for information including credit card numbers, passwords, and other important information. That is the Top way to get an account hacked, besides using a public computer and forgetting to log out.

And thank goodness for this, not sure if I'll remember which symbol I used in the future just tbh

Not really feeling all of the site changes lately, of course that's just my opinion.

Hi everyone,

I know not everyone has or will agree with the measure of our security upgrade. We apologize that it's an inconvenience and it will be something we will take into consideration down the road as things settle down (as in, whether or not we will change the requirements of the password). Right now, our focus and efforts are on this implementation and making sure everyone gets back into their account ASAP.

Thank you Yung, I appreciate that someone is looking out for members benefit. I'm sure it has not been easy for you trying to make sense of the situation. Most humans don't like change when not on their terms.

I don't know if this is an all voluntary site but if so, kudos to all the mods / admins. I was admin in groups in a photog site and it's a thank less job that takes quite abit of time.

I'll do whatever it takes to comply, this is an interesting site.

Guys, I really don't get why so many of you are freaking out. This isn't a terrible thing. Hackers cause all kinds of problems, and it makes it harder for bots to register for an account.

Also, to the people getting angry that there are still some mentions of cars on the forum because of the script being used...I would like to invite you to try and edit the source code of a forum plugin script in your spare time while also managing and engaging with a community. I ran and coded forums for years, and I know first hand that it is a challenge to keep members happy and continue development at the same time. It is also difficult in the game dev field where I currently am, so I really understand the struggle. You guys hating on them really need to chill. They aren't charging you for this site, and you are here of your own free will, so calm the heck down.

I personally applaud what the team here is doing. In the short time I've been here, you guys have not only redone the design, but added a ton of nice features. (@ tagging is one of my personal faves I use on my forums so I was happy to see it here :) )
