Is my betta tail recovering? he is normal, swimming, eating and even flaring like mad.

But the tail doesnt seem too be improving

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but look closely at his old trouble spots. Is there any new growth that is perhaps clear or grey in color?

My betta Sashimi was adopted when he had pretty bad fin rot. Before I had it under control, he lost about half of his tail.

Now, 6 weeks later, it has mostly grown back. The new growth came as a grey, almost black color. It is only now beginning to lighten to the yellow of the rest of his fins.

yeah its grey on the trouble spots, does the grey mean its in recovery? i thought being clear like saran wrap was the recovery process?

It depends. Is it new growth? Fin rot give the fin a dark edge too sometimes.

And Im pretty sure the color varies from fish to fish. Ive heard clear is more common, but Sashimi is my only experience with fin rot, and his new growth was grey.. almost black even. At first I thought the fin rot had returned until I realized it was new tissue growing in.
