Can you please fill out this form? It'll help us to help you and your fish. I'll post it below for you so you don't have to copy and paste it from the sticky. What I will say, just so you can take the best care of your fish as possible, that .5 gal is way to small for any fish to live in. The ammonia builds up way to fast and can sicken the fish and the fish does not have enough room to move around in. It's sort of like keeping a dog in a crate 24/7 for it's whole life. Yes the dog can survive, and will live, but it's not got much of a life. A 2.5 gal is just fine for 1, and 1 only, betta, make sure to have a heater, adjustable preferably, and low flow filter, on the tank. That's because betta do best in water that's 78 -81 degrees, and the filter helps keep the water clean but if it's too strong then it stresses out the betta. If you want to house 2 betta together then you need a minimum of a 5 gal.
I know, I know, but they sell those little tanks at the stores and they say Betta on them... It's all about making money, and not about having healthy, happy, fish.
Many illnesses can be traced to water conditions. Your water-changing schedule is the most important element in diagnosing. Please be honest.
