6 seems on the high side but definitely possible. Am sure like humans, genetics and luck come into play. If you are a lucky enough owner to have the same betta at your side for that long a time, consider yourself blessed.
Sadly, more then not as of the last few years bettas in general have been living for only 1-3 years... but in the right environment, with the proper water changes it is possible to live up towards 7 years. But commonly, it's 3-5 in the average, well cared for betta.
