Right now, I am extremely nervous. According to the USPS, my betta should be arriving today. I am worried because he has been in the box for 4 or 5 days by now. My other betta came last week was DOA and he was in the box for 3 days. How long can the betta fish survive in the bag?

If your Betta arrives alive, I would add a drop of SeaChem Prime to the bag right away.

I've had them arrive safe and sound after a week in transit. You just never know.

If the color of the water in the bag of the first one was greenish and he was decomposing, the death occurred almost immediately after shipping.

I have safely shipped all my bettas so far, the longest took a week (but I've heard they are fine for 2 weeks with sufficient air in their bag). I wonder if your DOA betta had to do with temperature, treatment of the box, or a previous health condition the shipper was unaware of.
