Hi! So I'm not new to betta fish care, but I have a question about a new tank. I have a betta in a 5 gallon, filtered, heated tank, but I'm wondering if the heater is making the water too warm. It's preset to 78, but the thermometer strip reads 82ish. My betta is very VERY active. HE eats great. He seems fine, but I just dont wanna accidentally fry him. Should I leave the heater off at night or is that a bad idea? Never had this problem before so I'm not sure what to do. Thanks in advance.

Leave the heater on, youll do much more damage having the temps swing up and down. As long as its actually turning off and not constantly heating it up further it will be fine

78 is perfect for them, bettas can handle higher temps than many other fish (as water becomes hotter it loses O2, but lucky bettas can just get it from the air)
My fish are sitting at 89.6 with no heater and they are perfectly happy about it
