Hi everyone,

I’m brand new here but my betta is sick! I got him back in October so around 6 months ago, and for the past month he has only wanted to lay in a plant in the back left corner of his aquarium.

He lives in a 10 gallon tank
the tank is heated and is 78 degrees
the tank is filtered
I perform a 15% water change every other week, using a gravel vac and water conditioner.
He has a nerite snail tank mate that i just added in today to hopefully help with the brown algae issue i have in the tank.

I tried to feed him tonight (pellets) and he didn’t want any. He swam over to come check out the food, and then swam back to his corner to lay down again. I fasted him last night to try and help him if maybe it was constipation, but he refuses food today.

I had his water tested earlier today and all of his water levels were normal. no ammonia, no nitrates, normal ph. I’ll include a photo of him and his side lump down below! Whenever he swims he seems to swim fine and seems ok, but he very rarely swims around and leaves his corner.

What are you feeding him? Have you ever tried giving him the inside part of a pea? That is suppose to help with constipation.
