Hi everyone - thanks in advance for any help. I've had Cutie now for about a year - he's always been in relatively good health until the past several months when he kept getting pop eye in one eye. It took a LONG time to treat it, and when it was finally all done, it seemed that he had lost sight in that eye. I thought this because it had gone all black.
Recently, however, i saw that a little white patch had appeared on the top of his "dead" eye which i initially thought was a fungus and treated it as such with maracyn 2. There was no effect so i assumed it was an infection and have been using tetracycline for the past week. His eye has gotten WAY worse, and now he also has this trailing white film coming from his fins. It almost looks like hes shedding skin. I've tried taking pictures, but its a little hard to see. Please, if anyone knows what this is or how i might treat him, help! I dont want to keep dosing him with the wrong meds, and i dont want to lose him :( besides his eye and odd white stuff, his behavior is normal. He eats alot, and hangs out by the heater most of the time. If i come by his ank, he swims over to say hello and follows me with his good eye.
Please help!

Popeye is almost always caused by poor water quality.. have you always done 100% weekly changes in your 5g? that should be good enough.

While he's sick I'd add an extra 50% mid week.

I would look for KAanplex by Seachem. If you can't try it you can try Triple Sulfa or Maracyn 1 and 2 together in combo. I would treat 2 full weeks.
