Good morning community on another hot typical summer day in Oviedo, FL.
My question is can betta fishes be lazy swimmers? What I mean is that Rusty swims for a little bit and then he will settle in on a spot in his tank whether it will be his coral, his plants or his cave and then stay there for awhile and then swim again. He is healthy, no ich or velvet, fins are flipping not clamped. He is not gasping for air.

Let me know. When you can. Stay cool if you are in the South.
Bye for now.

Totally normal. :) Most betta are pretty relaxed once they are settled down in their homes. They like to rest on most anything, and some people even make little "hammocks" for their fish to use.

my friends betta would only swim when he was hungry. other than that he would literally lay on his side in his favorite corner of the tank. :p I house sat for them once and thought I killed the little guy but when he noticed me he got all excited for food.
