Hello, everyone!

I noticed today that my boy Caravaggio is seriously bloated! He wasn't this way earlier today.

Things that have happened today in is life:
-A 75% water change. He was in his cup for the first time in awhile, but only for a few minutes.
-An extra pellet at feeding time. I gave him 3 instead of 2 (I usually give him 2, twice a day. He's still quite little c: ), but I don't think that would make him puff up this much? I've given him 2 pellets + one bloodworm before and he's been fine.
-I put in an algae wafer for his snail companion Doc Cottle to eat.

Is this something to worry about? Should I just fast him for a day? He'd still full of energy, I just don't want him to be sick! : )

I say fast him for three days and feed him 1/6-1/5th of a nuked frozen pea. While some members are against feeding peas, I've been feeding my fish them weekly with no ill effects. It's up to you though, but definitely fast him for three days.

My betta, Bob Buttons, got bloated a couple of months ago & I got really scared. I read that he might be constipated, so I fasted him, then fed him ~1/4 nuked frozen pea (skinned, then cut into teeny tiny pieces). Ever since then, I make sure I don't overfeed him & I fast him every Sat morning, then give him his little bit of pea every Sat night. I also make sure to soak his pellets in water for ~10 min before feeding him. I also got him a 5 gal tank (he used to be in a 3 gal) to make sure he had a little extra room to swim around in. I read that giving them the extra room to swim, keeping the temp of the water warm (around 80º, which will encourage them to swim around more & be more active), soaking the pellets, doing the fast w/ the pea once a week, and making sure not to overfeed them, should keep them from getting constipated! I found out what was happening! The little dicks WAS eating the algae wafer! 8\ No wonder he went from tiny to HUGE in a matter of hours! The little sneak.

I would not feed him anything for a few days. Is he having any swimming issues? If so epsom salt will help with constipation. Take 1 teaspoon and mix it with 1 gallon of water in a milk jug. Add water conditioner and wait for it to disolve. Then add betta to salt water. daily water changes and can be used till no longer constipated.

He isn't having any issues. : ) In fact, if anything he's MORE active. He seems very proud of himself. I think he feels more like a wild hunter, being able to forage for himself in his tank. Today, the bloating has gone down considerably, so I'm relieved.
