Well I won't be putting him down. I just went and checked on him again and he's gone.

S.I.P. Cinnabar! I'll miss you my lil' Piggy betta.

I'm shocked at how fast he went, but in a way happy for him at least he didn't suffer.

Sorry for your loss. They can be a pain sometimes, they can be difficult, but when they're gone, you miss them all the same.

I am very sorry for your loss I know he had a wonderful life with you. I was looking at the pictures and to me he seemed like a older Betta and by the pictures it looked almost like a tumor. I know you did everything for him.

Given the bloat, coneing and how fast he went it sounds like dropsy. I'm still wondering if Betta are more prone to the underlying causes?

If his kidneys were affected by some internal infection then your guy would have trouble with osmoregulation which might explain the bloat.

Very sad a year and a half is too soon to lose a fish :/
