Hi,
At the moment i have my Betta in a one gallon tank. I have found a 3 gallon bowl in the shed and wondering whether it would be better to move my fish into the bigger bowl or leave it in the smaller tank! I heard that Bettas struggle in bowls, thats why im asking!

When people refer to betta bowls, they refer to the ones under 1 gallon. Bigger is always better!

Hmm... This is actually hard to answer!!!
.Tanks are always better because of the space of the volume and the surface.
.Bowls are small and the circulation would be bad because the surface is smaller than the actual bowl. It would also be hard to heat.
I think that the tank is a better choice IF you keep up the water changes and your Betta Fish doesn't look lethargic and sick. I think he would be stressed of moving between tank and bowl. How would you feel like if you suddenly moved?

Also, horizontal space is better than vertical space so consider the shape of the bowl. I have a bowl with flat fronts and back but rounded sides. It holds a lot but I am unsure as to how much because filling it to the top would remove the horizontal space and access to air, so I usually leave it at 3 gallons, which is almost half-way up. My betta preferred that to his vertical 2.5 gallon tank.

The bowl is fairly wide and if I filled it up about 3 quarters of the way then there would be lots of breathing space. So bigger is better?
