^ Agreed; it takes a LOT of thinking and research as well as a heck of a lot of dedication and money to make sure you have the right setup for betta breeding (one of the reasons why I haven't jumped into breeding just yet).. IMO, if your to breed and sell your fish you want to spend a lot of money on the perfect mates that create something far more unique than what you would find in a typical pet store; otherwise you're not going to come out with much profit by getting and breeding pet store fish and you really wouldn't be able to make up for the amount of money you have to spend to breed and care for fry... If you don't meet up with the basic requirements for breeding, you will be set up for failure.. So definitely do your research and make sure you're okay with having to put a lot of time, effort, and money into it before just going out to a store and buying a male and female betta... and make sure you're okay with having to kill off a few of your betta fry if they become ill or if they have imperfections that prevent them from being sold if you find that you're unable to make room to care for the little guy(s)/gal(s)... It's cruel, but it's one of the cold hearted truths of breeding pretty much any animal..
