Hi friends!

I'm a new fish parent and when I bought Boba, he was branded as a "Bumblebee Betta," which now I've learned is Petco's rebrand of a Chocolate Betta. Now that his stress stripes have faded, I noticed that his body has a bluish iridesence to it!

Can I still call my son Boba a Chocolate Betta even though his body is iridescent? Thanks!

I would say, based on the definition of a chocolate Betta, that he is not. He is, though, a bi-color. Some refer to his type as "Mustard Gas (MG)." Hope the information helps.

According to the International Betta Congress, a chocolate should be non-iridescent and non-opaque.
