I just recently got a betta fish, it's name is Deandra. Problem is, I'm not really sure if it's a girl or a boy. I tried looking for the white dot and sometimes I think I see it but then other times I don't. Also, my fish made a bubble nest the first week I had it (its gone now from switching her to a larger tank) and I read that usually males are the ones who make bubble nests. Is that true? I'll post a picture of my betta but I wasn't able to get a picture of it's belly because it swims so fast. It's really hyper. I'd also like to know what kind of betta I have? If anyone can help me figure this out, that'd be great!

You know by the size of the fins.

The first is a male halfmoon flaring and the second is of a female halfmoon flaring.

you can also tell by their body shape and the size of their "beard" when they flare. :]

chrissylee13: I haven't seen his flare yet, and I think if I did I probably wouldn't be able to figure out if it's a male's flare or a female's flare xD

djembekah: Thank you! I was at the pet shop for over half an hour to make sure I picked the prettiest betta in the pet shop! I think he was the smallest as well. I did pick a new name, he is now known as Boomer!

bettalover2000: I'm not sure, I don't know anything about the types of bettas there are. I'm clueless :(
