I have a baby nerite that I think would look great in my new 5.5. I'm just worried he'll "escape" in search of a larger body of water. I know nerites are notorious for escaping.

The snail is fine in my 10, otherwise. :)

True, yes. But I'm not around my tanks all the time, I have classes and other commitments that keep me out of the house for hours at a time. Not every day, but yeah.

Nerites are really durable, they can survive out of water for quite some time. Close to a day or more I think.
They shouldn't wander in a tank that size - I keep mine in 2.5 or smaller, and they never stray. As long as the water is good, they should be good!

Thank you! I think I'll put him in tomorrow. Or her... haven't seen any eggs yet!

Of course my betta might not be too friendly with the snail, in which case the snail can live his life happily with my rasboras.
