I have a divided 10gallon tank with a male betta on each side. There is a lot of brown algae and I read that Nerite snails eat brown algae. I am aware that they won't live just off of the algae of course. Could I add one Nerite snail on each side? Will my Bettas mind?

Go for it! They might need some algae wafers if you don't have enough of the algae they like. I have never had a betta attack a snail but members on here say some of their bettas do.

Sounds like a plan.

Nerite are extremely picky eaters; more die from starvation than anything else. IME, only the occasional Nerite will actually eat vegetables or wafers. Instead, they skate right over them which leads some to believe they are eating. Thus, death by starvation after several months.

If the tank runs out of natural algae you can grow it by setting rocks in a bowl of water and placing on a window sill or in direct sunlight.

Will a Nerite be okay for a 2.5G? I want something to help with uneaten/forgotten food. My betta sometimes has a small appetite.
