My friend recently gave me moon sand and i have been searching to see if you can use it but there is nothing that tells me if i8 can or not. Its orange and it dosent even mix in with the water. It just stays at the bottom. I want to use it for my 3gallon. So if anyone can tell me if i can use it or not. it would be greatly appreciated.

I have no idea if it is safe for the fish but I personally would not use that. Good luck.

Heres what the problem is that I can think of. People putting there fish in the tank without properly cleaning the sand so theres lots of dust in the water. That is what probably kills there fish. Bettas are smart and wont eat sand haha.

You can buy some play sand from Home Depot for about 5.00. Play sand is really dirty so you'll really have to wash it out, but it won't hurt your fish. Or you can use pool filter sand, which is a lot cleaner than play sand. You can find pool filter sand online or at some sort of pool specialty store. Or you can use silica sand which is used for sand blasting. There are many options, but I would definitely stay away from moon sand.
