Currently I have a male betta in a ten gallon tank with a filter and heater. He lives with two cory catfish and I want to get more because I read they like to be in groups of 4 or more. Will I have enough room for 4 cories and my betta? Or do you recommend another type of catfish (or any fish) that can live with my three fishies?

If they aren't Pygmy or Hasbrosus, six would be way too many for a 10 gallon since they get up to 3" as adults. IMO, four is pushing it, anyhow. If your Betta doesn't mind two he probably won't mind three or four.

Personally, I'd see how he does with one or two more catfish; then you can see if it looks crowded to you. The reason a minimum of six is suggested is they feel more secure in larger groups so adding Platies wouldn't help the cats.

Tank mates are really more for us than the Betta, anyway. :)
