I was wondering if any of you have ever changed your fish's name after you got to know them more? Maybe their name no longer suited them, you grew to dislike the name or whatever reason?

Which fish was it that you gave a new name to?

I've been thinking of changing Sasuke's name because it simply no longer suits him and he doesn't answer to it anymore.

Yup! My late betta Pastel's original name was Laven, didn't fit him considering how dainty and fragile he was, Laven sounds too hardcore to me xD

Also when I was thinking of a shortened primary nickname to call Hideyoshi, I was orginally going with Hide, but it sounded weird for him and could be mispronounced (like Hi-D instead of He-Dea). Plus Oshi sounded adorable and fit his bubbly little personality!

Do you have a new name in mind for Sasuke that you feel fits him more yet?

I was thinking of going with Acheron, after one of my favorite characters from Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter book series. He usually just ignores me when I call him Sasuke now. He looked up at me when I called him Acheron during his water change, so I think he might like it lol

Yes, I was originally calling my Elijah Blue, King Josiah then I tried Mr. Bo Jangles then I tried Bubbles McGee but none of them worked with him. He only made one bubble nest, he didn't dance and he wasn't very regal and he didn't respond to any of them but ...

I decided to let him tell me which name he liked and so I was just throwing out names when I said Elijah Blue he began to dance and prance...I said Ezekial, he sat on the leaf and stared at me like you dummy! So I said Elijah Blue again and he started prancing and dancing so it was a definite choice of names by him. I wouldn't have believed it but my cousin witnessed the whole thing and was laughing about it with me! So he is now Elijah Blue and comes when he is called by that name! It's amazing!

I know that some people would call me crazy but he really acted like he knew the name he wanted so I just started naming names that I had thought of and his name really fits him. I just released him into a 10 gallon, cycled, planted tank after his being in quarantine for a very long time do to worms and he is just loving the new home! He has explored every inch of his tank and pops out in all kinds of places but will swim up and dance now the minute he sees me! He has turned into quite the character since his quarantine ended!

I got a little VT as Orion, but as he began changing colors, his white went away and he no longer looked like an Orion. Now his name is Jaws. It's ironic and fitting XD

I originally named my betta Sushi. It didn't seem to fit his abundance of attitude and sass, so his name is now Swim Shady.
