Clay Fertilizer Balls

Does anyone know anything about these? I was thinking of putting them under my sand substrate since they seem like theyd be easier to separate from it, i dont know how much of a mess they make and i kind of want to keep my sand looking clean. Also, should I use a fertilizer water additive along with them? I would also appreciate some tips on this subject. Thank you!

It sounds like commercially sold ones tend to be missing some nutrients. You can make your own, and there's debate about using red clay vs grey...

i heard the red clay had more iron in it or something so it was more preferred. I also read somewhere that people rinse the clay, and then soak it in water with the nutrient suppliment additive for water for a few days. I just wasnt sure if anyone had experience with this method, i will look into the process of making it too :)

I use https://www.nilocg.com/ and also Iron Enriched Clay Balls/Tabs.

Han only makes the Iron supplement in tab form. I like the NilocG because his general ferts are in tab, not capsule, form. The capsules eventually melt and you get little fertilizer balls floating all over the place.o_O

Oh, yes, you need column ferts. I've switched to NilocG; one pump per five gallons, I believe.
