I got the cutest little frog recently, and the only problem I have is.. Charlie eats Kermit’s special pelted food, and since he ate the two pelts, plus his own pelts. he’s gotten bloated/constipated, I am currently treating that right now. Kermit(the frog) and Charlie (Male betta).They live in a 4 gallon tank, filter, heater, silk plants, hides and a moss ball. They both get along great, no fighting. They swim and chill near one another, and enjoy swimming plenty. i believe Charlie is constipated? I just noticed this today, I’d like others opinions. (Tank is clean,and treated. Charlie still is very active despite this, his colouring looks this colour usually, just conflicted on his tummy.) my apologies for the bad quality, and lighting.
How can I help Charlie? And how can I possibly feed Kermit without this happening?

Many illnesses can be traced to water conditions. Your water-changing schedule is the most important element in diagnosing. Please be honest.

Housing:
How many gallons is your tank?
Does it have a filter?
Does it have a heater?
What temperature is your tank?
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration?
Does your Betta have tank mates? What kind?

Food:
What food brand do you use?
Do you feed flakes or pellets?
Freeze-dried?
How often do you feed your Betta? How much?

Maintenance:
Before your Betta became ill how often did you perform a water change?
What percentage of water did you change?
What is the source of your water?
Do you vacuum the substrate or just dip out water?
What additives do you use? What brand of conditioner?

Water Parameters:
What are your water parameters? Please give exact numbers. If tested by pet store please get exact numbers. "Fine" or "Safe" won't help us help you. Important: Test your water before the regular water change; not after one.

When did you first notice the symptoms?
How has your Betta’s appearance changed?
How has your Betta’s behavior changed?

Was he or she ill or suffering some sort of damage when purchased?

What food brand do you use? Aqueon (With research I plan on changing this soon.)

Freeze-dried? Blood worms rare.
How often do you feed your Betta? How much? Once a day, 4 pellets and rare bloodworms as treats.

Before your Betta became ill how often did you perform a water change? Once every two weeks.
What percentage of water did you change? 50%
What is the source of your water? Tap water, Treated.
Do you vacuum the substrate or just dip out water?
What additives do you use? What brand of conditioner? Can‘t say exactly, but for bettas.

How has your Betta’s appearance changed? not really, just swollen tummy.
How has your Betta’s behavior changed? No, he’s still active.
Is your Betta still eating? Wants food yes, currently not feeding him because I believe hes constipated
Have you started treating your Betta? If so, how? Not feeding for 1-2 days.
Does your Betta have any history of being ill? No
How long have you owned your Betta? 8 months
Was he or she ill or suffering some sort of damage when purchased? No

— Thank you for your feedback, I was really worried no one would see the post. I will find a new home for Kermit. Sad to see him go but their health is most important to me. I’m not sure about the pH and such in the tank, but a update on Charlie his swollen belly has gone down a little. Not enough for comfort, but more.

Thank you. Yes I for sure am getting rid of the frog. Will try to give him back to the pet store, if not I will find a suitable home. I’ll get the water tested,, and begin to change the water 50% a week. Thank you so much for your feedback. Charlie was swollen March 7, and for me it’s now almost the 9th. I haven’t fed him anything and the swelling has gone down slightly. This shouldn’t be fatal for him should it? And when should I feed him again?

I would wait 2 or so days see if he poops. If you can get some Daphnia is a great laxative.

Charlie‘S belly has gone down back to normal, and Kermit has been moved into my cousins big tank with other frogs and fish’s. He’s doing good, eating. Charlie iS acting like nothing ever happened, lol. 🥰
