Cory spine - dangerous???

Hi there!

After receiving some very helpful advice on this forum, I found a place near my house that has received some lovely little salt and pepper cories in! I want to add a small group to my tank to help clean up any bits of food that fall down. The only thing is I just read that cories have a spine that can puncture skin. Is this dangerous to a betta, especially if he tries to charge at them (considering he decided to flare at a food pellet today:grin2:)? I doubt my betta could fit them in his mouth, but I don't want my boy getting stabbed if he decides to skim above them or swim up to them and they get spooked! He's got this habit of randomly picking at gravel now, so could they be a danger to him, especially if he's on their turf?
I was going to pick some up tomorrow, but now I'm not so sure? :serious:
