Ok, so his tank *finally* finished cycling this week, so my newest boy, Percival, got upgraded from a pet keeper to a planted 5 gallon yesterday afternoon.

I was a little concerned how he would take the change but I needn't have worried; he owners the tank from the moment I released him!

Well, I decided to try showing him a mirror and he went ballistic! I only showed it to him for a (very) few seconds but he then spent the next 20-30 minutes racing around the tank, flaring at everything. He even went so far as to literally charge the wall of the tank and try to get a piece of his reflection!

Crazy little nutter.

He's just a baby, less than 3 months old but he's full of himself.

He was at it so long I was able to get a decent picture, unfortunately the heater in the background makes it impossible to make out his beard.

Yep, that's him, my baby giant! I think he likes his new "territory" and is ready to defend it against ask comers be they real or not.

He's a trip.

Annnnnd he's back at it today. I think I have a little tyrant on my hands! I gave him some pellets, now he's back to flaring at everything.

Hope he doesn't get too stressed or hurt himself.

I took the pic with my phone, and also started the thread from my phone, and from that tiny screen his little beard wasn't so obvious as it is on a full sized monitor.

I checked on him later in the day and he was still flaring, but mostly towards the pack of the tank where the black of his filter created a mirror effect. I slotted a piece of paper between the HOB filter and his tank, he looked at it a couple of times, then went off to look for his nemesis in another part of the tank.

He's a fierce baby giant!
